Apr 17: Flavors of Panama: Chef's Table with Iris Bula
Panama City has been a UNESCO Creativity City in Gastronomy since 2017, and for good reason. Foodie or not, you‘ll want to experience the unique Panamanian cuisine, intermixing of flavors, dishes, and ingredients from Panama’s African, Spanish, and Native roots. Since Covid means we can’t actually travel there from Beijing, get the next best things at The Hutong’s chef’s table with Iris Bula, who will be preparing a menu of classic Panamanian dishes such as patacones fritos (fried green bananas) and ropa vieja (shredded beef cooked in a creole sauce) with coconut rice. Dinner is priced at RMB 398 per person.
Moka Bros new spring/summer menu
Moka Bros have revamped their menu with a selection of new dishes perfect for the spring/summer season. Try seafood-based dishes like the seared giant tiger prawns with quinoa, dragon beans, sweet potato, and spicy Asian-inspired dressing or the fresh clam pasta with white wine-tomato sauce, or slurp up the spring chicken noodle salad, inspired by the native cuisine of their Chengdu branch. The Moka warm salad, which made its first appearance as a winter special, is now a permanent fixture of the menu.
Hutong'er Pie have joined forces with April and Cafe on Andingmen Neidajie for a spring fling this weekend, featuring pies, pour-over coffee, and cocktails. There will be six different flavors of pie on offer – blueberry, banana, lime, chocolate, pecan, and pumpkin – as well as five different single-origin pour-over coffees (RMB 45) for the caffeine aficionados or cocktails (RMB 60) like sangria or the aperitivo (Suze, Aperol, Campari, lemon juice, apple juice) if you want to get your day drink on. Find them there from 10am-7pm.
